Abstract:
Chris Couper, a 1982 graduate of UCD Physics and a Distinguished Engineer with IBM, will speak about his experiences within IBM after graduate school. Chris will talk about what made him choose his career at IBM, what roles he has performed over the last 23 years within the company, and what his current passions and projects are about.
Chris will also talk about what IBM Fellows and Distinguished Engineers do within the IBM Corporation in general, how they are perceived by the rest of IBM and the industry, and how they are compensated. He will also describe the working environments at IBM and what roles each of the eight world wide labs performs. At the end of the talk, Chris will attempt to answer any questions you may have about working at IBM or the types of science and technology that we are interested in pursuing.
