Capinski works for Coherent Inc., one of the largest
laser manufacturers in the world. He
will speak on how his Ph.D. studies of the investigation of phonon transport in
unique semiconductor structures led to his career in the laser industry. The talk will describe what it took to get
his first job in the business and what was needed to advance to his current
position of managing the group that supports the customers who use Coherent’s scientific lasers. He will also describe his work activities and
work environment for his current job and his previous jobs in applications and
engineering.
At
the end of the talk, Bill will attempt to answer any questions you may have
about working at Coherent or in the laser business.
