Abstract:

My statistical mechanics and quantum mechanics classes have come in handy in ways I could never have imagined. Probability and statistics are at the heart of my profession as a professional poker player. But probably the most useful poker skill I honed in the course of my physics career was the ability to think clearly and logically. I will demonstrate how one can put together mathematical skills and logic to be successful as a professional poker player. Then I will explain why attempting to do this could only be described as an act of utter desperation.
