Class 12, 2/12/04, Highlights

* 3:10-4pm, Chau reviewed for Quiz 2 and went over almost line by line of the following,
    ** Web page "Guidelines for Exams & Quiz 2", with specific emphasis one what students need to remember and examples discussed.
    ** Web pages, C10/C0, C10/C1, and C10/C2-4.
* 4-4:25pm, discussed and wraped up the material of this week:
     ** showed the web on the "furthest object (a galaxy 10 Gly away, Z~7) through gravitational lensing. The web page gave a beautiful picture of gravitational lensing.
     ** discussed those listed in Class 11 web page, the important items from TB1,
* Handed out graded HW5 with solution.

Announcements:
* A new page "Guidelines of Exam & Quiz 2" is created for the class. Please review. It contains important info to help you with your study, in particular now for the coming Quiz 2.
* More links of C10 list are added to the course web: C10/C0, C10/C1, C10/C2-4. Again those are meant to be helpful for your study and preparation for Quiz 2.
* Links to the above pages are just above the current class link on the course web.
* As always, your feedback on these link pages, which are supposedly to be helpful, will be most welcome.
* As those who have been handing in homework know, solutions to HWs are being provided on a separate piece of paper.. Those who hand in the homework automatically get a copy in their graded homework. Extra copies of solutions to HW3,4,5 are available on the tray in front of Professor Chau's office for the few who did not hand in homework. (Please note that solutions to HW3,4 are stapled after the score sheet. Some students seem to have dropped some of those on the tray.)
* I am concerned that there are still a few students still have not picked up graded HW3,4 and solutions (which were distributed Tuesday, 2/10/04, last week). They have been on the tray in front of Chau's office. Please pick them up as soon as possible.


Class Preview

* First we will wrap up the discussion on
S3 of TB1, Spacetime and Gravity (General Relativity )
and highlights from
TB2, Chapter 7 (Supersymmetry) and Chapter 8 (Extra Dimension).

* Then review for Quiz 2.
