*3: Four Fundamental Forces and their order of strengh
*4: Reiterated two basic principles with which how the universe operates, as established mathematically and experimentally in the 20th century.
*5. Introduced four laws of thermodynamics (the study of many-body systems, for example, air, liquids, and solids).



Preview

* First, we will discuss Chapter 1 of TB2 and Chapter 4 of TB1.
* Then, we will continue to discuss and finish Chapter 3 of TB1, which than ties nicely with Chapter 5 on Newton's Universal Laws of Gravity, which will be started in Class 5, 1/22/04.
* Graded HW1 will be handed out at the end of the class.

Directives:
* Students can attend more than one discussion sections and switch discussion section. If you do, please let Mr. Tappel know at the attended section.
* Class web page is now linked at http://my.ucdavis.edu/  for all sections, thanks to the suggestion of Catherine Cleary.
* Please make sure that the Syllabus is clear to you (especially, in view of the fact that Quiz 1 will be on 1/29/04). If not, please ask Professor Chau for clarification.
