Physics 7 - A Restructured College Physics Course
-- Our Goals for the Students --

Students Successfully Completing This Course Should:

Common to Traditional Courses

* Have proficiency using Algorithmic methods of problem solving
* Have proficiency using Quantitative and Analytic methods

Emphasized in New Course

The above and in addition:

* Have a solid understanding of the Relationship of mathematical representations to their associated physical concepts and principles

* Have developed an Appreciation of the Usefulness and Strength of the physicist's Model Building Approach to understanding physical phenomena

* Understand the Relationships among Seemingly Disjoint Physics Concepts

* Have constructed for themselves a Robust Conceptual Framework of the core physics content

* Be able to Choose the appropriate Models/Approaches and appropriate Representations to use to get useful answers to real-world problems

* Ability to Apply a Model Building Approach to understanding phenomena not addressed in class as well as phenomena in other scientific arenas
