Overview: High Energy Physics
We have 8 high energy experimental faculty (Chertok, Conway,
Erbacher,
Ko, Lander, Pellett,
Tripathi,
Yager).
Many of them are members of the Collider
Detector Facility (CDF) collaboration at the Tevatron at Fermilab, where
they have been looking for evidence of supersymmetry and the Higgs boson .
They are also working with the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS)
collaboration at the Large Hadron Collider
in Geneva, Switzerland; this machine is expected to yield important new discoveries
beginning in 2008. They collaborate closely with the high energy theoretical
group (Carlip, Chau,
Cheng,
Gunion,
Kiskis,
Terning),
who work on particle phenomenology, lattice gauge theory, quantum gravity,
theoretical predictions of new phenomena beyond the standard model and cosmology.
