Al Loui received his Ph.D. degree in March, 2005. The title of his dissertation was "An Experimental and Theoretical Study of Furan Decomposition on Pd(111) Using Scanning Tunneling Microscopy and Density Functional Theory."

His is now a Staff Scientist at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Livermore, California.
