Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (STM) and Low Energy Electron Microscopy (LEEM) are useful techniques for studying the surface structure of a wide variety of materials, finding applications in the fields of physics, chemistry, engineering, and biology. The STM and LEEM group at UC Davis, supervised by Prof. Shirley Chiang, is utilizing STM and LEEM images, in combination with other more standard surface science techniques, to investigate a broad range of problems relating to condensed matter physics and chemistry. These pages will describe the people, equipment and research
For more information about the UC Davis STM Group please contact Shirley Chiang at chiang@physics.ucdavis.edu or (530) 402-7113. You can also contact the STM lab at (530) 752-3338 in the Physics basement or the LEEM lab, 122A Kemper Hall, at (530) 754-8135.
